For our UK readers, the new centre-right coalition government consists of National, ACT and NZ First who won 48, 11 and 8 seats respectively. Brooke van Velden, 31, is the Deputy Leader of the ACT Party and was appointed Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety yesterday. Van Velden holds conjoint Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from Auckland University.
National and ACT were in opposition when Leighton Associates started blogging, in September 2019, but in the interests of impartiality we would not want to elaborate.
The new Ministers will be sworn in on Monday.
Welcome to the gig, Brooke!
