SOCK PUPPET ONE STAR REVIEW has its genesis in a crappy Google review by someone using a fake account (ie: a sock puppet) to besmirch a competitor’s business. That business owner was Lawrence, an employment advocate and part-time law student. Research is an important part of doing a degree, but it’s unknown whether “Jimmy H” was aware that Lawrence is also a legal blogger; a recent example of his research is here.
So anyway, Lawrence called his research colleague Triz one evening to regale him with the content of said one-star review. On receiving a screenshot of it, Triz spontaneously reached for the nearest guitar, an Epiphone SG, and strung together some chords. He took a rough recording of his effort to the next band practice, and several months later the band had rehearsed it to a sufficient standard to road test it at an outdoor gig near Taupō.
Lennon-McCartney they’re not, nor are they Justice Joe, but the Anderson-Price songwriting partnership could still be the most important in the context of the Employment Relations Act 2000. Enjoy!
